REGISTRATION AND PAYMENT
Q What is the cost to take the courses?
A-1 For prospective adoptive parents
To purchase a package of 11 courses (which meet the Hague requirements)
the cost per pre-adoptive individual or couple registering is $120.
To purchase individual courses, the cost per pre-adoptive individual
or couple registering ranges from $20-$40 per course, depending upon
the course. This fee includes the certificate[s] showing successful
completion of each course.
For clients of agencies that require separate certificates
- In order to meet your agency's educational requirements, the prospective
adoptive parents are asked to read the courses separately and must receive
two separate certificates. To comply with this policy, couples must
register individually for separate accounts and pay SEPARATE
FEES. If you have questions about this policy, please check
with your social worker directly.
A-2 For social workers and other adoption agency professionals
To purchase a package of 11 courses (which meet the Hague requirements)
the cost is $200. To purchase individual courses, the cost is $20-$40
per course, depending upon the course. This fee includes the certificate[s]
showing successful completion of each course.
Q How do I pay?
A-1 The fee is paid online through PayPal.
A-2 Another payment option, for those who do not want
to use PayPal, is to pay by check or money order. For personal checks,
cashier's checks and bank money orders, there is a 10 day hold. There
is no hold for Postal Money orders. You can mail your payment to Adoption
Education, LLC, P.O. Box 2180, Milford, CT 06460. You must include your
phone number and e-mail address with your payment. We will e-mail you
when your payment has cleared and your account has been activated. If
payment is returned to us for 'insufficient funds' we reserve the right
to notify your agency.
Q If I pay by e-check through PayPal,
can I take the courses before my e-check clears?
Although you will have a userid and password, you can not access the
courses until the check clears (generally 4 business days).
Q Is there a separate fee to receive a
certificate?
No, the $120 registration fee includes the Certificate.
Q Why did I not receive my confirmation with my UserID and Password?
A-1 You may have entered an incorrect e-mail address.
If you suspect you typed your e-mail address incorrectly, e-mail us
with your correct e-mail address and we will forward your confirmation.
A-2 Our e-mail (info@adopteducation.com)
may be blocked by your e-mail program. Update your spam blocker and
address book to permit incoming e-mails from our e-mail address. E-mail
us when you have made this update and we will forward your confirmation.
A-3 You may have registered under another email account
(work, spouse, etc) that you neglected to check for new mail after you
paid.
Q Help! I just paid and my sign-on does
not work!
PLEASE LOG OUT AND CLOSE YOUR BROWSER.
THEN REOPEN YOUR BROWSER AND LOG BACK IN TO BEGIN TAKING YOUR COURSES.

Q How do I change my e-mail address?
Click on the UPDATE MY ACCOUNT link on the right-hand
side of any page of www.adopteductation.com.
Q What do I do if I forgot
my username and/or password?
Click on the FORGOT MY PASSWORD link on the right-hand
side of any page of www.adopteductation.com.
Type in your e-mail address and your password will be sent to you. If
your e-mail address has changed, contact us at info@adopteducation.com.
Please do not set up a new registration.
Q How long can I access my Adoption Education
account?
You can return to the courses at any time for a period of one year from
registration. Once your account expires, we will not extend your account
if you have received your certificate.
Q Help! My account is expiring
but I have not finished my courses!
Please contact us to discuss. We understand that the path to adoption
is unpredictable. We will consider extending your account at no charge.
COURSE QUESTIONS
Q Are your courses Hague compliant?
Yes. Unless otherwise directed by your agency, you must take all of
the courses in the "Hague Courses Package" in order
to meet the 10 hour requirement set by Hague.
Q Do I need to take all of the "Regional
Considerations" courses?
Please check with your agency. In all likelihood, they will only require
that you take the course pertaining to the country from which you plan
to adopt.
Q The country I am adopting from is not
included with your courses. Do I still need to take the course? What

Q Will I receive a separate certificate
for each course or one certificate for all courses?
You will receive one certificate for all courses after you successfully
complete the coursework to comply with your agency’s pre-adoption
training requirements. The certificate will list the courses you have
completed, the number of credit hours and the date of the last course
completed.
NOTE: Since some agencies do not require all courses
to be completed, we are asking that you continue to email us after each
quiz you complete but that you notify us when you have completed your
last course at which time we will issue your certificate.
Q How long must I wait to receive the
certificate once I’ve completed the required courses?
If your account information is up to date, including the name of your
agency, the certificate will be e-mailed to you within three business
days of successful completion of the final quiz. The Certificate will
arrive via e-mail in a PDF format. This PDF certificate can then be
printed. Your agency will be notified at the same time and receive a
copy of your certificate.
Q Can I take the courses in any order?
Yes.
Q Can I demo your courses?
Only staff affiliated with an adoption agency or professionals in the
adoption field can demo our courses.
Q Once I've completed a course, can I go
back and re-read some information?
Yes, you can return to the courses at any time for a period of one year
from registration.
Q How do you know that I've completed
a course and the quiz?
Our database keeps track of your progress and the receipt of your certificate.
Q I registered using one
email address but I am sending you emails from another. Is that a problem?
There is no problem sending us emails from a different email address
because we track your progress by your userid, not the email account
you are emailing from. However, if your second email address does not
obviously identify you, please include your name in the email. Otherwise
we will email you, asking for “ID”.
Q What if it takes me less than a few hours
to complete all the courses?
Your agency expects you to be trained and prepared for your impending
adoption; the Hague International Treaty mandates
training for most international adoptions. If you ‘speed read’
through the materials and/or skip right to the quizzes, our system will
‘red flag’ your account; and your agency will be notified.
Your agency may require that you re-read the courses.
Q Can I print your online courses?
All courses can be downloaded as a pdf document and printed. The printable
versions of our online courses are protected by copyright laws and are
for your use only. Printing the courses can be beneficial in allowing
you to study without having to read from your computer screen. However,
you must sign back on to take the quiz for each course.
No copying, publishing or redistribution of ANY course is
permitted without the express, written consent of Adoption Education,
LLC.
Q My PayPal account is under my maiden
name but my account registration is under my married name. Which name
will appear on my certificate?
Your certificate will print with whatever name you entered on your Adoption
Education registration page. We do not use the name on the PayPal accounts
because it is frequently a maiden name or a business name. And sometimes
it belongs to a teenage child, a parent or someone unrelated to the
user!

Q My agency requires my spouse
and I to receive separate certificates. Do we need to pay separate fees
too?
Yes, both you and your spouse will need to open up separate accounts
and pay for the courses separately. You also will need to read the courses
separately and take the quizzes separately.
Q My agency referred me to your website but they
are not listed in the drop down window on the registration screen.
We need to contact your agency. Please email us at info@adopteducation.com
and include the following information: Name of agency, contact person,
e-mail address, telephone number.
Q Does my agency receive a copy of the certificate(s)?
Yes, the certificate is e-mailed to both you and your agency(ies). Please
include your social worker(s) e-mail address when completing the registration
information.
Q Do I need to be affiliated with an
agency to take a course?
No, please select "NONE" as an agency choice.
TECHNICAL ISSUES
Q Do I need a high speed internet connection to
read the courses?
The courses were designed without any fancy bells and whistles. You
do not need special flash players or audio players to view the courses.
In addition, all courses have an optional hardcopy printout in PDF format.
However, you must complete the quiz on-line.
Q What do I do if I can't get a feature
of the website to work?

To expedite receipt of your certificates, please send us an e-mail directly
from your personal e-mail account with the name of the certificate in
the Subject line. Include the date of completion if you are sending
the e-mail on a different day. If the e-mail address is different than
the one you registered with, be sure to include your name in the e-mail.
Q When I am taking the tests sometimes
I am on my home computer and sometimes I am on my office computer so
you are receiving email confirmations from two different email addresses.
Is this OK?
Yes. It does not matter which computer you use or which email you are
sending from. Your userid is unique and that is what we track. Most
users who send us email from a different email address do identify themselves
in the email, though some do forget. If we can't figure out who the
email is from, we will reply and ask for "ID".
Q Can I bookmark the last page accessed so I
can return directly to it the next time?
Yes, you can bookmark any page. However, once the browser is closed
and you visit the page again, you will be prompted for your username
and password.
Q I do not have an email
address or access to a computer. How do I complete your courses?
If possible, you can use a friend’s, family’s or social
worker’s email address to register and their computer to read
the courses online. There also is an option to print them out on hard
copy. Most libraries have public computers.
Payment can be sent via personal checks, cashier’s checks and
bank money orders.
If none of these options are available to you, please contact
us.
Q How do I find out about the post-adoption reporting requirements of the country I will be adopting from?
Your adoption agency is required to provide this information to you. You must contact them directly to obtain this information.
Q I am a social worker; can I use your courses for CEUs?
We are presently working toward having the NASW approve the courses for CEU credits. If you would like to take the courses now and obtain certificates, notwithstanding the absence of NASW's approval, contact us to learn how.
